What is a referral?

1

Advanced veterinary advice or care is needed depending on the case

Your primary vet decides they’re not able to offer the right level of expertise, or they don’t have the appropriate facilities at the general practice.

2

Your veterinary surgeon makes a referral to our centre

Your primary vet will recommend that your pet be seen by a specialist consultant, or a vet who has undertaken additional training to provide an advanced clinical service, at a referral centre.

3

You're in safe hands with Medivet Referrals East Midlands

These clinicians are leaders in their field of expertise, with years of experience and very advanced training.

Exceptional treatment for my dog George. Had an Mri, conservative treatment recommended which Initially worked a treat, unfortunately symptoms returned when treatment completed. I called the vets (in a panic) and within 10 minutes more treatment was given and within 24 hours George was back on form. Stuart and his team are caring, professional, experienced and patient centred. Excellent care all round, I will follow up as needed with Stuart as I trust he is best placed to help George make a full recovery, thank you, Nikki and George

Outstanding service from Emr/medivet today our Luca went in today for a assessment and MRI due to pain I explained to the staff that he hates being caged and could possibly self harm, when I picked him up this afternoon the lovely nurse said he started stressing as soon as I left so they just let him chill in their office, the ortho surgeon who assessed him explain everything in plain English and was a very friendly guy. and because I was with petplan I didn't have to do a thing, wonderful team here would definitely recommend.

Logan, my operational drug dog became lame, we were referred to Medivets and met Stuart, however we had met before because my Rottie had an injured ankle and require a platelet procedure. On both occasions Stuart was great, he has a wonderful caring manner and a nice calm presence. He explains everything in detail, but in simple terms for me to understand, and allowed me to ask questions so I could gain further knowledge of the procedures, treatment and after care. My Rottie is know running like a train once again, causing havoc. Logan had a cruciate knee operation, with metal plates and screws inserted. He has been back at work since Sept 2023, working in his favourite nightclub, in all weathers, catching the people who are naughty, and back to having some big finds and arrests and I am proud how far he has come since his operation. Too be honest you would not know he had the procedure. I truly believe without Stuart’s expertise, knowledge and dedication and his support team care, Logan would have retired. Thank you, Stuart and the team. I really appreciated your hard work, and care you gave my boys.

Graham inserted a plate and screws onto my puppy’s broken radius just before Christmas 23. When he explained the procedure to me I was amazed that it was even possible on such a small bone. 2+ months later she is now well on the mend (the ulna bone was broken also) and able to do the puppy things that she couldn’t during those long 2 months. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Graham’s knowledge and expertise, it is truly amazing. Added to this was the time he took to explain everything, his calm and reassuring manner and the fairness he showed of the costs. involved. The whole team were also very helpful and understanding. This was an extremely stressful time for me which was lessened somewhat by this wonderful practice. If your pet is ever referred to East Midlands Referrals rest assured you will be in safe hands. Thank you all so much, especially Graham.

I was so impressed with Medivet Referrals East Midlands’ modern facilities, which I felt were exceptionally clean, tidy, and spacious. Having been back several times since, I note that each time I visit, I always see someone cleaning something, which I find so reassuring; they really are genuinely dedicated to ensuring the safety of their patients at Medivet Referrals East Midlands. Furthermore, Medivet Referrals East Midland’s surgical suites are ultramodern, and uses some of the very latest state-of-the-art technology such as CT scans and high end PCs. I felt reassured that our Nyx was getting the very best veterinary care possible at Medivet Referrals East Midlands. Secondly, the staff are an outstanding and professional bunch of truly likeable people. They are nothing short of genuinely caring, friendly, and considerate people who all very obviously love helping animals. The nursing and support staff are all neatly dressed, wearing smart, clean scrubs, and presenting well both in dress and comportment. Moreover, nothing is too much trouble to ask of the staff, and they have gone ‘above and beyond’ any reasonable expectation on several occasions for us; Nyx was aptly described by Graham as a ‘timid girl’, and has on 2 different occasions soiled herself in transit to Medivet Referrals East Midlands, and needed a bit of a ‘once over’ upon arrival. The staff are always happy to take over with a smile and go out of their way to reassure Nyx, speaking soothingly to her, as the girls gently bathed her; I also noted how careful, and kind they were with Nyx, and it is that level of consistent kindness and consideration of the needs of their patients that sets Medivet Referrals East Midlands apart from other practices. All the staff are absolutely delightful, and make you feel like your pet’s well-being truly matters to them. One person of note to mention is, Bethany; really is an asset as a first point of contact as she is well informed coming across as genuinely empathetic, and truly listens (an admirable and rare quality these days). Further to the above, the Quality and Continuity of Care delivered by Medivet Referrals East Midlands is truly exceptional, and in my opinion second to none. When Nyx had a complication after her first THR, nothing was too much trouble to ask of Graham and his team-- they were more than happy to juggling Nyx into an already packed surgical schedule, on top of which, they all stayed well past closing to work on Nyx late into the evening to ensure continuity of care. Graham and his team were truly there for us when we needed them most, which speaks volumes to their dedication to provide the highest possible level of care to their patients. Their clear dedication to quality and continuity of care should truly be commended. I would like to especially mention Morgon, as she really was absolutely incredible with putting both myself and Nyx at ease with her warm, yet professional, and competent demeanour. Lastly, I was most sincerely impressed with the exceptional level of knowledge by all of the Medivet Referrals East Midlands staff. In fact, not only head secretary Bethany, but also Graham really went the ‘extra mile’ to ensure we received good, honest, and accurate medical advice on which to base our decisions about the most appropriate steps going forward in Nyx’ care and treatment. Before I was even a Medivet Referrals East Midlands client, Graham spent a great deal of time speaking with me directly over the phone discussing the pros and cons of the different surgical procedures available to us; Graham Oliver’s genuine, caring, and pragmatic approach is one of your greatest assets at Medivet Group; I simply cannot begin to commend Medivet Referrals East Midlands highly enough; both Graham and his entire team are an absolute credit to the Medivet Group family.

i can’t thank everyone as east midlands referrals enough! our dog narla was referred as she had crucial ligament damage and from start to finish we was put at ease about her operation and definitely narla was in the best hands! with narla only being 1 at the time of her operation we knew it was for best after 6 months recovery we was discharged but told us never to hesitate to ring if we had any questions or concerns. by far the best vets we’ve ever been too and can’t thank them enough for everything they did.
