  • BOAS Surgery

BOAS, brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, is a cause of upper airway obstruction in brachycephalic breeds. The most commonly affected dogs tend to be the smaller short-nose breeds, such as Pugs, French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. Signs to look out for include exercise intolerance, gagging and loud noisy breathing. BOAS surgery is routinely performed at Medivet Kensington by our surgeon, VK and aided by nurses who have undertaken additional training in anaesthesia.

Book an appointment with any of the vets to discuss whether your dog would benefit from the procedure.

  • Laparoscopic neutering

Laparoscopic neutering (key hole spay) involves making 2 small incisions to remove the ovaries. There are many studies showing significantly improved recovery times for dogs, with up to 65% less post operative pain. Peter and Tom routinely perform this surgery on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays at the Kensington practice.

  • Nutrition Consult

At Medivet Kensington we offer full nutritional assessments for cats and dogs, all
ages and conditions. These clinics are run by one of our registered nurses who

I cannot be grateful enough for the treatment and the care this clinic has given to my 1.5 year old cat. After investigation with my local vet in Islington, we discovered that he had a broken femur head and neck. I was looking for a clinic that was ready to take care of him and I found Dr Vishaal, who is specialised in orthopaedic surgeries. He explained to me that he needed to urgently get his femur head and neck removed. Dr Vishaal was extremely patient with explaining the complex procedure, the pros and cons of it, the recovery time, the alternatives. The whole team has been completely transparent with regards to the costs, and taking into consideration my own budget, explaining to me what was really necessary and what was a nice add-on for his recovery. My cat spent the night at the clinic after the surgery and I could see that he had been very well taken care of as he was very calm and not stressed when I picked him up. I was quite worried about leaving him there since it was my first time leaving one of my cats overnight at the vet but the whole infrastructure was comforting, the team kept me posted about how he was, there was communication all along. The nurse even left me say a proper goodbye on my own with my pet at the moment of the drop-off. The surgery happened two months ago and my cat walks again, runs, climbs. They really saved him and took really good care. of him. I am still in contact with Dr Vishaal to check on his recovery as it spans across several months. The humanity and care from all the employees at this clinic, from the front desk, to the nurse and the vet himself remains unmatched to me. I recommend this clinic and Dr Vishaal to all my friends that have an animal. And I feel really grateful for their help. I rarely write reviews but I really wanted to take the time to write this long one. My animals mean the world to me and it is really hard to find a trustworthy vet in a city like London. I wanted to share my experience so that it could help others.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service at the clinic located at 1-3 Gloucester Road, Kensington, London, SW7 4PP. The handling of tests, the cost of services, and the overall quality are far below acceptable standards. I brought a urine sample from my pet for testing, which, as it turned out, was stored in the refrigerator for over 10 hours and then left on a table at room temperature for another 2 hours. This is a clear violation of established guidelines, as urine tests should be conducted within 1–2 hours of collection, or up to 6 hours in exceptional cases. Despite my concerns, the clinic assured me that the extended storage time would not impact the results. The cost of this test was £190, which is 3–4 times higher than the average prices across London. At the same time, the responsibility and professionalism of this clinic are 2–3 times lower. Additionally, I was told that there are no medications available for treating cystitis in cats, which is entirely untrue. After consulting other veterinary practices, I learned about several medications that are effectively used to treat cystitis. After a lengthy argument, the clinic finally prescribed one of these medications, but the dosage was twice the recommended amount, causing complications for my pet. I had to adjust the dosage myself to prevent further harm. This level of negligence and irresponsible treatment of animals and their owners is unacceptable. I rate this clinic very poorly for its inflated prices, low-quality services, and inability to ensure patient safety. I do not recommend this clinic if you value your pet’s health and your time.

The Medivet team at this practice are excellent--My 2 dogs have been patients there for years. My 12 year old ruptured her ACL and couldn't walk on that leg, so they quickly x-rayed her and recommended surgery to repair the ligament. VK did an outstanding job on the surgery and she is 100% better. The surgery as well as the after care was all amazing. I have seen some very unfair bad reviews and these are either because they feel the receptionist was rude or that the charges were too high--so they give 1 star. I think the prices are fair--after all, it is a business and not a charity! I have pet insurance, which pays for most of the costs anyway. I highly recommend Medivet Kensington!

We had an emergency visit on Sunday to the Medivet office on the Gloucester Road. Sarah and Tom did a great job helping our Frenchie Hugo, who injured his neck. He was quickly examined and prescribed pain and inflammation medicine. Fingers crossed he is on the mend. A big thank you to Medivet Kensington and to Sarah and Tom.
