After qualifying in 1992 in South Africa, I worked at various practices before coming over to the UK where I worked for Medivet from 1995 to 2000. I returned to South Africa and bought into a small animal hospital in Pretoria, working there for the next 16 years. When my daughter decided to study in London, I contacted Medivet again and took over a group of practices (including Horncastle) in November 2016. I’m married to Roenel, a Veterinary Nurse, and I have a dog called Jessie, who is still in South Africa. In my spare time, I enjoy running, swimming, walking, horse riding, scuba diving, golf and travel.

I started at Medivet on work experience when I was 13 and never looked back. I went to other practices in the meantime, but eventually returned to Medivet Horncastle in 2015 and was promoted to Head Veterinary Nurse. I enjoy supporting my nursing team, making patients feel at ease, seeing them grow over the years and interacting with clients who I have a bond with. I have a son called Callum and have recently adopted an English Bulldog called Stella.

Since I can remember, I've been captivated by dogs. My journey in animal care began during my GCSEs, and I pursued an animal care course at Riseholme College. When I was just 14, my passion led me to train as a dog groomer at a grooming parlour, an experience I cherished but knew wasn't my ultimate goal. After school, I continued my education at Riseholme in Animal Management, delving into various aspects like nutrition, nursing, science, and husbandry. Upon completing the course, I worked as a dog groomer for two years before transitioning to kennel management, where I cared for local pets. Which brought opportunity to train rare breeds like Curly Coated Retrievers, Sussex spaniels, and Bracco Italianos for prestigious dog shows such as Crufts. Currently, I serve as a VCA at Medivet Horncastle, aspiring to one day become an RVN. Additionally, I have a soft spot for adopting furbabies - three French Bulldogs, a Pomchi, and two charming black cats - who mean the world to me.

Hi! My name is Casey and I work as a Veterinary Care Assistant for Medivet. Growing up I have always loved being in the presence of animals and therefore it is such a privilege to have a job that I am so passionate about. I particularly enjoy spending time with the animals ensuring that they and their owners have the best possible experience whilst in our care. It is extremely rewarding seeing the difference we can make on a daily basis to improve the quality of each pets life and seeing their confidence grow whilst they are with us. In the year I have worked for Medivet, I have gained so much experience, knowledge and most importantly love for the job. Outside of work I love to spend time with my french bulldog, Theo, going for lots of walks in the countryside.

I started with Medivet in 2018 as a Patient Care Assistant and have since studied to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse, qualifying in 2023. Providing individual nursing care to our patients is something I am passionate about, and I especially enjoy getting involved with diagnostic imaging. As a Hills Nutritional Ambassador, I am happy to give advice on the various diets available, from kidney care to weight loss! I have also recently completed a certificate in Oral Hygiene Care, and look forward to applying the knowledge I have gained to our everyday practice.

I got my beautiful boy put to sleep here yesterday afternoon and cant thank the vets enough. They did everything possible to make my dog and myself and my dad comfortable. We were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye beforehand and afterwards. There was a particularly fantastic vet with pink hair who was excellent with my dog since they were having some trouble finding a vein (not the vets fault whatsoever). They kept telling him he was a good boy and offering him treats, giving him a good fuss etc. The vets also brought out a little stretcher for my dog to carry him in comfortably which I thought was really lovely. To top it all off, the lady behind the counter is one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. They also have a candle and a sign that they put out when someone is saying goodbye to a pet to inform and ask other patients to be respectful. Thank you Medivets Horncastle for a lovely experience.

We would like to thank the staff at medivet horncastle for trying to save our eldest cat who was nearly 18year's old. Our younger cat was diagnosed with a thyroid problem which is now under control. The staff are very sympathetic and understanding. Many thanks.

Great place. It was very easy to book an appointment online. When I arrived I was seen on time. The vet was lovely and so were the support staff. I am very happy with the treatment I received.

My Cockapoo was spayed 5 days ago. The staff were wonderful, really caring for her throughout the day. They phoned as soon as she woke up and were very caring. They explained how to care post op. There haven't been any problems but I know they were just at the end of the phone should we have needed them. The scar is hardly noticeable. A brilliant practice and I would recommend them to everyone who loves and wants only the best for their pets.

Have used this vet for the last 20 years + both as a local veterinary surgery and since they have been taken over by a national company. Despite now being part of a larger company they have maintained their friendly and knowledgeable nature. Staff on the phone are helpful and you are able to book both emergency and future appointments without much delay and at suitable times. There is also a satellite surgery in Coningsby. The Horncastle surgery has a small off-street carpark, accessible entrance - choice of steps or ramp, and is wheelchair accessible inside. Have found the vet to be kind, caring and invested in the welfare of the animal. Charges reasonable prices - not cheap but on par with other surgeries.

Fantastic practice, kind and considerate vets, nurses, and reception staff. Our dog has suspected skin cancer his surgery was scheduled for the next day and we were treated so well. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.
