Head Surgical Veterinary Nurse

I have always had an interest in veterinary work originating from a farming background and took a student nurse position in a mixed practice in Leicestershire in 2003. I qualified in 2007 as a registered veterinary nurse (RVN) and decided to take locum roles in referral centres and small animal general practices all over the country. I worked at the animal charity PDSA for 10 years during which time I completed my diploma in advanced veterinary nursing (DipAVN) and graduated from Myerscough School of Veterinary Nursing in 2015. After this I worked as a volunteer abroad for 2 animal charities in Greece. In 2019, I took a head nurse role within Medivet for 3 years. I currently work within the nursing team at Medivet Roston Drive as head of the surgical department which is where my passion lies. Outside of work, I enjoy keeping tropical fish, walking, swimming and baking cakes.

Consulting Veterinary Nurse

After working for the Retired Greyhound Trust as a teenager, it inspired me to move into a career as a veterinary nurse in 2015. I started working in a veterinary hospital, before moving into a first opinion practice, before finally settling as a Consultation Nurse which is where my passion lies. I enjoy speaking to clients and working with them to help provide the best possible care for their pets.

I have always been interested in the veterinary profession with carrying out work experience at Roston Drive back in 2004!! I then moved to the then Fairfield vets (Leicester Road) where I stayed for 10 years!! I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse back in 2012 after completing my BSc (HONS) degree. After a few years, I gained my certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and worked nights in an emergency hospital which I thoroughly enjoyed!! These days you will find me at either Medivet Hinckley Roston Drive, Leicester Road or Coventry Road as practice manager.

Client Care Assistant

I started my career as a veterinary receptionist in March 2017 working at Vets4Pets in Hinckley where I became Head Receptionist. I really enjoyed my role there but left in 2021 to work at Bell, Brown & Bentley vets as they offered me set hours. Whilst at Bell, Brown & Bentley I completed the Bronze, Silver & Gold BVRA award and became an Associate Veterinary receptionist. I moved to Medivet Roston Drive in May 2023 as it’s much closer to where I live and I can walk to work. I love working as part of the Medivet Roston Drive Team and meeting all the pets and their owners. In my spare time I enjoy walking, spending time with my 4 grandchildren and looking after our 4 cats and a dog.

I think they just see £ signs every time you walk through the door. You get conflicting information and conflicting prices from different members of staff. I absolutely would not recommend. If I could find another vet locally who could take us I would go.

Yes I know people have said they have had long waits . We did yesterday with my beloved little dog who was poorly . But who's to say that the pet booked in before us was also poorly and took longer to deal with than expected . I'm sure we were in longer too . But , how do you put a limit on an appointment when your pet is sick . We were treated well and unfortunately our little one wouldn't see another day with us .but everything was done with the utmost care and kindness in this dreadful time for pet and owner . I cant fault the treatment we had and appreciate everything that was done for our little girl who went to sleep on my lap in calm and loving surroundings Thank you to ALL staff for your care and understanding in a truly difficult time .💔⚘WDJ

Well, where do I begin... Our appointment was running over 30 minutes late (always seems to be a regular things at the vets) and they were unable to check us in due to their computer system being down. When we were finally seen it was chaos from start to finish. We walked into the treatment room and it looked like it had been burgled - the vet had equipment everywhere. Once our cat was finally out the box the vet was unable to hold her, at one point he nearly dropped her, so I was left to hold her throughout the whole treatment. My cat was there for her annual booster, but the vet proceeded to prod and poke my cat and at one point tugging at her back legs. He then took out the treatment vile, which I noticed was different to her usual one, the vet was unable to explain why she was having this one instead. When he tried to fill the syringe he could do it correctly, so had to get a second one - I was still left holdimg my cat and this continued as the injection was given. He then asked me if I could carry my cat to the scales, I said no. The vet then carried her over nearly dropping her again. We were then told that my cat would have to return in another 4 weeks for a second jab, I asked why and the vet was unable to explain why, so he Googled it to try and get an answer, still telling us she needed to return. At this stage I put my cat in her carry case and left the room. When we got to reception we asked about the 4 week return and was told by another staff member that the information the vet had given us was wrong and she would check with the lead vet the next day and call me to update me - she did not! I had to call the following day, was in a queue for 15 minutes to be told that nothing had been left on our record, but they would call me back he next day to confirm. I finally received a text message saying what the vet had told us was nonsense. The service was dreadful from start to finish and I'm just thankful l wasn't there for a more serious concern as quite frankly the vet didn't have a clue!

Good sized waiting room with separate areas for cats/dogs. Typical vet though that charges 35 for antibiotics and another 35 for anti inflammatory on top of 50 consult fee. 110 for a thorn in a paw.

Doesnt even deserve 1 star. I'm not sure if it's always the same vet everyday, but the Scottish one that's there on Saturdays is absolutely useless and has no interest in helping your pet. Wants you out of there ASAP and doesn't listen to your concerns or even give the dog a second look. Actually prescribed us with tablets that made our dog worse after promising us she would be better in 2 weeks. I could go on for hours but I'll just simply advise you to go to a proper vet and not waste your time and money on this absolute sausage. We are now with a good vet that is treating our dog correctly and actually cares about solving the issue. Will take a while though after being made worse through the tablets that this vet provided us with. This doesnt apply to medivet in general as we are now with medivet nuneaton who are fantastic.
