Cardiology referral service
Alex Best holds certificates in both diagnostic imaging and cardiology and takes referrals for all sorts of heart cases. With a high specification ultrasound scanner and full array of probes she is able to diagnose and assess congenital and acquired heart conditions. Ultrasound scans are carried out in the practice as a day patient procedure and usually without any sedation.

Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy
At Medivet Dorchester we're proud to offer hydrotherapy and physiotherapy treatment. Physiotherapy is highly effective in relieving pain, restoring function and speeding up the recovery process. 24 hour on site hospital care
As a hospital we have staff working on the premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Overnight we always have at least one vet and nurse working on site at all times. This means that we are always available to help your pets. Our inpatients are looked after in separate dog, cat and isolation wards by a dedicated hospital team so they are always in the best of hands.

I cannot express how grateful I am for the emergency help I was given for my dog. Great care was taken and concern shown. My dog is not in the clear yet but with the excellent help I am receiving I am confident we shall get there. Thank you.

Took Boris in on Monday 9th September- very kind caring and lovely vet. Very happy with the service. Took Toby in on 12 th September and Siobhan as always was kind and friendly and as helpful as always . Great service and good experiences!

The staff at Dorchester Medivet were incredible with our 18 years old westipoo who unfortunately had to be put to rest on 1,09,2024 we are forever thankful for there kinds souls and support they gave when it was time to say goodbye to a family member Ted x bless all that work so hard around the clock to make sure our friends and company are taking care of in their last hours x thank you all staff xx Mr and Mrs Chris XxX

We took in a kitten we were sold the day before as ir suddenly became ill. We could not claim insurance for 14 days as its a new policy. We had no option other than to sign the cat over to the vets as we were told it would cost so much money and probably would not survive. We said we would adopt him back when he gets better. Phoned this morning to see if he survived the night and was told hes fine. I was told vet would phone back to discuss getting him back. When i phoned later was told he had been rehomed and it was not company policy to tell us where he went. My grandaughter is heartbroken. They have now lost a customer. Awfull way to treat your clients.

I've been to the practice a few times with my pet bunnies, some for a annual booster, but also for emergency out of hours appointments, and each time I was met with comforting, helpful and friendly staff, they took great care of my poorly bunny, but also really great at the annual health check, bunnies are both happy and so am I! Definitely recommend 😊

So disappointed with the service we received had a call that my partner racing pigeon had been taken to there vets we couldn't get a courier to collect for a week and we were told we would be charged £150 so we told them we would travel up to collect the bird ..166.5 miles a 3 hour trip up ..on arrival the bird was in a terrible state absolutely flown out and was obviously to us it would not eat or drink.and probably wouldn't survive. The 3 hour journey home.and sadly it didn't survive..simple can't understand how a trained vet could not see how bad the bird was and it would not survive much longer as it was so ill 😢 greatly disappointed with the service and lack of professionalism.

Had to visit as an emergancy vet as mine fidnt offer out of hours care, what a heartfelt vet who looked after our poor pooch, not the outcome that we wanted but a lovely vet and brilliant care given.

Sadly, we lost our beloved Roxy, our rescue Frenchie, whilst she was in 24 hour care. I cannot praise Rita, the vet on duty enough. She was kind and compassionate, supportive and gentle. It was a highly emotional situation and the care she showed Roxy and ourselves was hugely reassuring. Thank you for navigating us through the most dreadful evening, with such compassion.
