George Packer

Branch Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

George graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1995. After graduation, George worked in small animal practice and quickly became the Clinical Director of several practices for a large corporate vet. As Clinical Director George was responsible for overseeing 9 other vets and helping them with difficult surgery and medicine cases. George has always had a special interest in cardiology and has since developed further interests in feline and geriatric medicine and dentistry. George owned his own practice for 12 years, with a mission to offer top quality veterinary care in a welcoming and pet friendly environment before selling to Medivet in 2021. During this time the practice grew from being a 1 vet practice to 4 vets with two major building expansions. In his spare time George loves mountain biking and snowboarding and also enjoys playing cricket and golf.

I joined the team here in July 2022. Qualified from İstanbul University in 2017, I have worked in 2 different first opinion small animal practices between 2013-2019, then together with my wife we started our own practice in Turkey back in 2019, which lasted for 3 lovely years before we moved over here. We decided to move to the UK because of the opportunities it can provide, both on professional development and quality of life. When we met George and Julia and learned about their practice, I knew I wanted to be part of their progressive team in their friendly and peaceful environment- it’s like a dream team. I love working with cats and dogs, and with my focus on soft tissue surgery and internal medicine I get to enjoy making a lot of pets feel as good as they can feel. I now live in Nottingham with my wife Serenay and my cat Bety who we spoil rotten. In my spare time I enjoy reading books & manga, cooking, cycling, archery and gaming of all kinds.

I'm in love with German Shepherds, Dachshunds, ginger and white cats and everything that purrs, barks and has four paws! I enjoy spending my time reading, cooking and going to the theatre, as well as in nature, especially walking with my six dogs and cuddling my three cats. I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in 2018. After that, I've been practicing in a small animal practice, for almost 5 years, before making the spontaneous decision of moving to the UK. I'm an ambitious, patient and client-focused vet, always focusing on the patient's safety and welfare. Among my fields of interest are dentistry, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

I started working here in 2019 (not long before Covid hit) and recently finished my training to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse - which is very exciting! The next stage of my career is developing my expertise and areas of responsibility. I love all aspects of nursing, but I do have a soft spot for small furries. I am a huge rabbit lover and have two naughty bunnies - Dotty and Delilah at home. They have huge personalities and love spending time with Harry, the family Labrador who is a bit of a celebrity at the practice!

I am currently in my final year of studying for my bachelors degree with honours in Veterinary Nursing, undergoing a dissertation research project in feline chronic kidney disease; analysing treatment protocols to help identify the best patient care. I am finding this project rewarding and fulfilling as so many cats suffer from this disease and I can see how I can make a real difference to their health and wellbeing; if there is one thing I would like to share it is that there are no symptoms for owners to see in the early stages of kidney disease and that these cases are caught early by being on the Health Plan as the vets test for this each year. After working in other practices, I moved to Medivet Beeston to be a part of a larger team and to grow my knowledge further with more services and facilities available. Away from work and studying I enjoy playing hockey and cricket, and walking my crazily adorable golden retriever Brady. My charismatic cat, Cornflake, is my study partner, when he thinks I need a break he jumps onto my laptop, and he is usually right.

I joined the Beeston team at the start of 2022 and I have enjoyed getting to know all the lovely animals that come into our clinic. I most enjoy administering treatments such as laser therapy and being able to see the difference it can make to a patient’s quality of life. On the weekends I work for the Riding for the Disabled Association and see how bonds with animals can transform lives. By starting my training to become a Veterinary Nurse I hope to take care of animals just like they take care of us. At home I have a very special dog called Denley, a rescue cat and 2 gerbils.

She was persuaded by the Professor of Anaesthesia to go to university where she got a 1st in Biology and then gained a PhD in molecular genetics. Julia has 4 children, and her interests include dog training, running and skiing. My name is Jen and I've worked here at Medivet since 2022. I have always lived locally and was a receptionist for ten years at another vets in the area before having my daughter in 2013. I have always enjoyed working in this environment. Being able to help and support people through sometimes challenging and anxious times has always been a passion of mine. It's also important that people have a friendly face on reception (who's also on hand to give out cuddles or strokes when necessary!) When I'm not at work I enjoy snuggling with my own cats and Geocaching with my daughter.

Our appointment at Beeston practice was perfect, the staff were lovely, however we could not make an appointment at our local practice of West Bridgford as no vets were available for a few days which was disappointing.

Brilliant veterinary surgery, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else. All staff are caring and understanding. The vets listen to you as an owner which I feel is important as we know our fur babies better than anyone

This really is the best vetinary practice I've ever been to. Lovely welcome by the Saskia & the team on reception. George is truly the best. He put Spritz welfare first. George is incredibly professional and thoughtful to Spritz needs. He does his upmost to make her feel comfortable and not too stressed. Truly brilliant. Alice & the nursing team are kind, empathetic and always have a gentle smile for you. Thank you Medivet Beeston.

The staff at the vets are good enough no complaints with them or treatment and George was amazing when i had to put my dog to sleep. It was a really peaceful passing. But the costs are daylight robbery as any pet owner will know. The financial authorities need to take a serious look into this.

I came to the practice for my friend raccomendation, I'm very pleased with the care and attention both the staff and the vet gave to me and how they cared promptly to look into my cat health. I know my cat Morse is in good hands
