Medivet Bedworth Heath Rd

I’m writing this on behalf of my mum, and for hopefully recognising where lack of action and learning from this so it never happens to another owner in the future. On visiting yesterday 5th November 2024 my first experience is over hearing a veterinarian nurse and reception staff talking about customers and patients quite openly. Now I understand we’re going in under sad circumstances, but the blatantness of open loud conversations around there cliental and their owners already bothered me. Our jack russell cross has had a heart murmur for years, as with heart murmurs they can progress and hers did, eventually to a grade 6. Now under the right medication and treatment that can be managed well and a healthy lifespan can still be provided. However we had been raising concerns around her health since July this year. Understandably there’s a lot of cross over of symptoms that can point towards the heart murmur being a factor, but we was insisting around a cough that was present. In September we grew very worried about her health and have since then attended multiple appointments, each time seen by a different vet. Till one finally suggested could be bronchitis. And arranged for a x-ray for 9 days later. That same night our dog could not stop coughing and it was a persistent cough. Where we rang the emergency vet and they got her booked in for the next day. (5th November). We received news over the phone that her lungs had be so beat up from all the coughing that there’s nothing that can rectify it and essentially we need to look into having her put down. This is where I wanted more answers. There lack of action has led to the inevitable end of life for our beloved biscuit. In the words of the small woman vet (if your seen by 4 doctors they could all have 4 different opinions). While this excuse may work on some people I think the lack of action from someone who has to attend 5/6 years worth of education to be in the profession should grant further investigation. This was also the same vet that when I asked how long the steroids would last because we want to bring her home so she can go at peace in her environment. Shrugged 🤷‍♀️ like the emoji. The inability to recognise that as a vet who has a patient with a heart condition, that has a higher rate of contracting infections and to not further investigate this and when did after our frustrations occurred, only to find out it’s too late. If they had looked into this earlier when we said she wouldn’t be having to have say goodbye to us today. What’s shocking is reading the comments where people have had bad experiences you can clearly see it’s the same individual that’s being spoken about. I hope you do better, I hope you look at your practice and whats not working and how to rectify this. And I hope that when delivering bad news you’d do it with more grace. Me and both my sister work in the NHS and no very well how being on your end can be extremely difficult. But this screamed money fuelled than patient care as a priority. Do better. Be better.

I am extremely happy with our maxs' treatment at medivet Bedworth. We're first time puppy owners and medivet has been so wonderful with their advice, vaccinations, flea, tick and worming. Staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, sensing our pup was a tad anxious today I'm so grateful they made our visit less stressful by giving max his space in a room away from other animals.
