New Lead Vet at Medivet Wimborne Delivering Excellence in Care
A veterinary surgeon with a keen interest in feline medicine and surgery in dogs and cats is the new vet in charge of Medivet Wimborne.
Dr Mary Abarno enjoyed a distinguished veterinary career in the US before deciding to move to the UK with her husband 18 months ago. Now living in Wimborne, she says she is looking forward to meeting the town’s pets and their owners and to using her long experience in veterinary medicine to provide them with an excellent standard of care.
Dr Abarno ran a popular small animal veterinary practice in upstate New York for 21 years before moving to the UK. She was the first vet in New York to earn ‘Diplomate’ status in feline medicine and surgery. A diplomate is a title given to a vet who has received certification in a particular specialist area following a rigorous examination in the subject.
Commenting on her plans for Medivet Wimborne, she said: “My mother’s ancestors were British and I have always thought that the UK is a beautiful country and that the people have a great sense of humour. We decided to move to the UK permanently about 18 months ago and have settled in Wimborne because we think it’s a wonderful area and love being close to the sea.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and to working with my new team to offer Wimborne’s pets and their owners a friendly, welcoming environment in which they know they will receive a very high standard of care. We would be delighted to say hello to any passing owners and their pets who would like to just pop in to meet us.”
